Yes, unfortunately all teas have an expiration date. Even though it is safe to drink teas after the expiry date, loose leaf tea tends to lose its flavour and antioxidants after expiry. To extend the shelf life of all of our shipped products, we vacuum seal all teas as soon as they are blended. Once orders are placed, we open the vacuum sealed bags and fill all orders to ensure maximum freshness. All products usually have an expiry date of 2 years after the order date.

To preserve the freshness of your tea, make sure to reseal all bags after use and to close the display tin immediately after use. If left open, oxidation can accelerate the expiration of tea.

At the moment, we do not offer bagged teas. Steeping loose leaf tea in a wide tea strainer provides the best steeping environment for our tea, giving the tea leaves room to properly expand, which releases the most flavour and nutrients.

We offer various package types and sizes for all of our teas. Our most popular teas come in all three packages: the Display Tin, Refill Bag, and Mini Bag. The Refill Bag is meant to refill the Display Tin once it is finished.

If you are looking to try a certain tea before placing a larger order, we invite you to order a Mini Bag that provides between 5-8 servings of tea.

Many of our teas such as Oolong Cream, Jasmine Green, Japan Gyokuro and Egyptian Chamomile do not use any flavourings. However, some of our tea blends benefit from natural flavourings, such as bergamot oil, which contributes to the characteristic flavour of Earl Grey tea. We only use natural flavourings derived from plants.

We do not use any artificial flavourings and there are no sugars added to our teas.

After the 2011 Fukushima nuclear event, many Japanese tea farms were affected by radiation. We only import Japanese tea that has been tested and certified as radiation-free.

Very. For example, green tea has a relatively short steeping time of 3 minutes in a low water temperature. Steeping our teas for longer than recommended and at higher temperatures, can seriously alter the taste of the tea and lead to a bitter flavour profile. The same principle applies to all of our teas.

We highly recommend purchasing a kettle with temperature control. This allows you to steep each tea type at the optimal water temperature. This will ensure that the tea leaves release the intended flavours.

Our packaging varies between our teas based on weight per serving. For example, our Classic Earl Grey Refill Bag weighs 100g, while our Mint Refill Bag weighs 50g. However, per serving, they weigh 3.8g and 1.2g, respectively, representing a similar amount of cups per Refill Bag.

We try to ensure that our teas are picked, blended and vacuum sealed during their respective optimal picking seasons. Based on this method, our tea leaves remain relatively similar no matter when you buy them.

All of our teas are small batch blended and packed in Canada. This means that our teas are not mass manufactured and are only blended in small batches to ensure quality control, flavour consistency and maximum freshness for each order.
